Until recently I had given up on client side scripting due to many wasted hours searching Google for browser appropriate calls. jQuery restored my faith and I've since been incorporating it into every one of my web projects in some capacity or another. jQuery also has an astounding community that regularly posts incredibly powerful plug-ins for the system. Lightboxes, autocomplete fields and tag boxes are just a few that I've used myself.
